Arriving by plane

Munich airport is located about 30 km northeast of the city center. The easiest way to travel between the airport and the city is by trains S1 and S8 (map) which takes about 45 minutes. The fastest connection to your destination can be found via the MVV website. We recommend the "Single Day-Ticket entire network" (Single-Tageskarte Gesamtnetz) for 11 € for getting to the city center.

If you are landing in Germany at Frankfurt Airport, you can take a train to Munich. Connections can be found and booked on bahn.de.

Arriving by train

The central station is located in the western part of the city (see map above).

Getting around in the city

Munich has a dense public transport system (see this map). Connections and prices can be found on the MVV website. We recommend either "Single Day Tickets" (inner district for 5,60 € per day or 13,30 € for 3 days) or the "Stripe Ticket" (10 stripes for 12 € where 2 stripes are a single ride or one stripe is a short distance ride).
