Multiuser  Application

DATEAfter years in the industry, our client became increasingly distraught by the disconnect between hotel management systems and the actual needs of hotels and their staff. The systems were complex, cumbersome and built on outdated software paradigms not allowing hotel staff to focus on what’s important — their guests. This insight led to the perhaps blunt, but to the point brief: Design the future of hotel management.

SOLUTION
One of the big motivations for our exploratory project was the possibility of multiuser application. While the conventional 3D visualisation programs have no multiuser capabilities, VR allows one to develop an environment for cooperative work. The goal is to have a tool enabling scientists to work together on the same sets of data - manipulating it, discussing it, showing respective results to each other, etc. - while being potentially in different countries or even on different continents!

SOLUTION
So far we have implemented basic multiuser functions supporting two users, with one acting as the server and the other one connecting as client. Right now we are working on implementing the more advanced features of our tool into the multiuser environment. The upgrade to more than two users is of course also possible.
