Applications are invited for postdoctoral appointments in the Physics
Department of the Ludwig-Maximilians University to work on studies
of structure formation and cosmology.
Research will focus on the use of multi-wavelength survey data and
simulations to study cosmology and the evolution of galaxies and
other cosmic structures.
The scientist will be invited to take part in the scientific
exploitation of the proprietary datasets from the Dark Energy Survey
(DES), Pan-STARRS1 (PS1) and the South Pole Telescope.
The scientist will be expected to take a leading role in preparing
for the combination of the X-ray data from the upcoming eROSITA survey
with the optical multiband data from DES and PS1.
Experience in the use of optical imaging and catalog data is a must.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics. The appointment
will begin in Fall 2013.
Please send a CV, a publication list, and a research statement;
in addition, arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent
to Prof. Mohr.
Applications should be received by August 1, 2013.
